Polallie Ridge to Cooper Spur

This weekend, we headed up the Polallie Ridge Trail to Cooper Spur.  The trail was in great shape, and burnt trees lined our way ~~ remains from the Gnarl Ridge Fire of 2008.  Our total elevation gain was over 5,000′ and we covered 12 miles.

We pitched our tent near the shelter for a cold and windy night.

Yesterday morning, we headed up past Cooper Spur to an elevation of about 8964′.

Mighty crevasses of the Elliot Glacier.

Rocks were in frozen water here.

Once we got back to the shelter, we took our day packs off and repacked our backpacks for the return on the Tilly Jane trail.
