Patchwork Chevron Quilt Top Finished

What a quick quilt to put together!  This Chevron quilt top finishes at 80″ x 80″ and the blocks are 5″ cut and 4.5″ finished.  I didn’t use the pattern exactly as written; instead, I cut out individual pieces so the corner points didn’t get cut off.

Yesterday, I sent a package to our USMC son in Yuma for his 23rd birthday.  Included among the many items were “party favors” (aka ditty bags) and a journal cover.

Last evening was another visit to a local migrant camp.  Most of the workers there are the same as last year, but a new family brought a lovely Virgin de Juquila with a dress the woman made.  We celebrated Mass and the altar was quite interesting.

Her hair is real and very long.  It is tightly braided on her head under the crown.  I just love how her hands poke out.  The base underneath is elaborate.
