Friday morning, we had no power and after a phone call, the company fixed it in 15 minutes.  I did make instant coffee on my one burner Coleman on the back porch.

Yesterday, my husband, son and my daughter’s brother-in-law ran a 5K race here in town.  It was more like a XCountry run and very fun.  Probably it’s been nearly ten years since I last ran a race.  Kevin, at 52 years old, ran a 20:01.  Our caps are about 20 years old and still going strong.

I finally have enough blocks to get this quilt from the “Material Obsession” website together.

And we checked out the demolition today.  The side stairs are still in one piece.  While I was taking a picture, the tractor came rolling by.  The worker stopped, waved at the daycare kids, then did a few twirls.  Rather fun!

It’s getting really hard to find stuff of interest over there.

Happy 22nd  Birthday, sweet Sarah!

Poor girl was born on All Soul’s Day.  It is a day when we Catholics remember those that have gone before us.    My daughter doesn’t particularly like the bright colors of Mexico, but there are some really fun fabrics, so I try to make her something with the dia de los muertos line.  This year it’s an apron.  I also go to the local market and get pan de muerto (bread of the dead). 

And even though she’s married, I’ll make her a chocolate cake with chocolate icing.  We love the recipe that Hershey put out years ago.

Here’s to remembering the fun times of reaching into “the Halloween box” and putting together a costume.  Here are my three little ones back in 2000.

And here is Andrew yesterday as “Retro Runner”.  He used my husband’s mid-70’s running outfit and ran with his Cross Country team.

Look what the workers did today…

Here’s a picture of my son, daughter and me in New River, NC Sunday when my wonderful sisters drove for dinner (8 hours one way).  Hopefully, this isn’t classified info and we can live a few more years.

I have returned from my “sister’s weekend to celebrate my upcoming 50th birthday”.  My daughter escorted me to BWI where my youngest sister picked me up and drove us to Waynesboro ~~ our family home to be with my parents and spend the night.

Then off to Mauzy for some shopping.

This was followed by the The Virginia Quilt Museum www.vaquiltmuseum.org and a tea lunch nearby.  Then off to two quilt shops on the way to Seneca Rocks for a rock climbing/chili cook off.  We hiked, drank a lot of beer and listened to a blue grass string band.  http://www.seneca-rocks.com/srcs_site/information/chili.html

After church, due to a mix-up, we swung by Liberty Mountain for a look at the new ski resort that is opened year-round.

Then, the biggest suprise:  a trip to New Riverm NC to have dinner with my USMC son.  It’s an eight-hour drive from Northern Virginia.  WOW!  Aren’t my sister’s great?!?!!!

Demolition was finished on Friday and today the jack hammer is in full swing!

My four sisters are flying me somewhere (I suspect the DC area because that is where three of them reside) to start a tradition as we each turn 50.  My birthday isn’t until January, but it’s dicey as to the weather that time of year, so this is THE weekend!  I am very excited!

I don’t do many customer quilts, but last night I finished a quilt for a gal.  She embroidered each leaf and it is gorgeous.

And it looks like while I’m gone, the rest of the walls will be coming down.  Here is today’s episode.  Yes, the porcelain is still out front???

Pretty cool!  Perhaps they’ll save some for Tuesday?

Off to bed to be picked up by my sweet daughter at 4:45am.

Our booth had so many generous donors and patrons!  The raffle quilt sold $819 tickets included in the $3900 grand total.  All of our table runners sold  and many of the larger quilts.

Saturday was potato peeling.  My crew of over 20 peeled 1,000 lbs. of potatoes in 1 hour 45 minutes!  Cutting was a little different, but it went fine.  Here are the potatoes in the buckets ready to be cooked.

My son and his friend worked Kids Carnival for two days.  Here they are fooling around.  An older woman told me yesterday that a young man saw her carrying a large box and offered to help.  She asked his name and he answered, “Andrew C”.  Way go go, my sweet son!

 Guild tonight, so off to get my round robin finished…

Just a little headache… probably not enough water today…

I asked a woman to make one afghan for our quilt booth at Fall Festival because she does wonderful work.  Look what she brought me today!  They are each folded in half and are absolutely gorgeous!
