Yosemite and a wedding

April 28, 2009

Over the past weekend, we headed to California ~~ our goal was our nephew’s wedding.  After a blow out on the rental and switching cars in Medford, OR, we stopped in Sacramento at the Gregory Backpack headquarters for a quick look over of my vintage pack.  The consensus was it’s good to go for many more years/miles.

Here is the quilt for the wedding gift.

This is one I finished before leaving for a friend (my children’s pre-school teacher) who is moving to Louisiana.

Sunday, we went through Yosemite.  My husband lived here as a child since his dad was a Park Ranger and we were married here in this chapel 23 years ago.  Last week was National Park Week and we did it BIG and fast.

6th Grade Auction Quilt

April 17, 2009

The 6th grade teacher asked me to make and quilt their auction item.  Since the theme is “Treasures of St. Matthew”, she wanted an underwater themed quilt.  I found the following “sun” on the internet and thought she’d like it, so I copied and pasted and sent it to her class.  Next thing I knew, she had the children’s artwork finished and loved the picture so much wanted the quilt like it.  Now I have no idea who to thank for the idea.  It is way switched up from the original, but it is very similar also.  The original maker had squares pieced together for all the borders.  I did a Ricki Timms type of ocean floor.  Anyway, here it is.

Small Quilt for Jacket

April 14, 2009

My sister sent me all the components for this little piece (13″ x 17″) and she found the hands on the internet.  I put them together, quilted the hands and sent it back to her in Virginia to be used on the back of a jacket for a church member.

Forest Park again…

April 5, 2009

We did a quick 4 mile hike to work on breaking in new boots for this summer’s trek.  At the Pittock Mansion, we ate our lunch with views of three mountains including my favorite, Mt. Hood.
