Hagg Lake Hike

March 29, 2009

Yesterday had to be one of my muddiest hikes ever!  We hiked 11 miles around Hagg Lake, where my son did his Eagle Scout project.  At times, when I’d lift my foot out of a mud slog, it was like those first baby shoes that parents used to bronze!  My son wore his new shoes for the first half of the hike.

Last night, Andrew passed his Eagle Board of Review!  What an accomplishment.  Here are the men that were on his Board along with him.

Gregory backpack goes to Huckleberry Mtn.

March 22, 2009

We just returned from another fabulous backpack in some snow.  From Wildwood Day Use Area on the way to Mt. Hood, we hiked up to the top of Huckleberry Mountain and spent the night.  It was snowing when we woke up and continued until we finished the hike.  My backpack is the one I have used since my honeymoon back in 1986 and still in fabulous shape!

Tomorrow evening is Andrew’s Eagle Board of Review, so he shaved and had his hair cut!  This is the evening he has worked so hard for!andrews-new-look1

Quilt Challenge, “Spring”

March 17, 2009

Our guild had a quilt challenge.  The rules were that we had to use a specific Lakehouse dotted fabric, keep between 120″ and 160″ and use the theme, “Spring”.  Mine is Mt. Hood, trillium and a spring Chinook salmon ~~ some of the first signs of spring in Oregon.

Super Hero Capes

March 10, 2009

Several boys from my son’s Boy Scout patrol are going to an Order of the Arrow event this weekend.  The theme is “super hero’s” and they wanted capes with their patrol patch, the ohms, on it.  So now I know what a day in the life of Superman’s mom is like.

Umpqua Ice Cream, Oregon’s 150 Premium

March 10, 2009

OR 150 FLYER copy.png

Sunday was our 23rd anniversary.  Throughout Lent, we give up sweets, but are allowed dessert on March 8th.  So, we got some of this ice cream.  It is absolutely fabulous!  The www.umpquadairy.com website says it features flavors of Oregon, roasted Oregon Hazelnuts, sweet clover honey and juicy huckleberry syrup and comes clad in its own special Oregon blue and gold package.

I highly recommend anyone here in Oregon to give it a try!

Gregory Backpack Loves the Snow

March 2, 2009

We hiked to Twin Lakes again this weekend where my son found his cup and bowl he left behind in January.  There were fortresses the guys made.  Weather conditions were perfect!  I love this adventure!
